The WSU Libraries have been closed for a year and a half.
It all started with a $2.8 million renovation.
This year’s budget for the new library will be $2,935,974.
According to the WSU, this money will go towards renovating the existing building, which has been vacant since the Washingtons move out in October 2016.
The renovation will cost $839,000, including $2 million for the construction of new signage, $932,000 for a new sound system, and $1 million for materials.
Construction will start in March 2019.
All funds from the renovation will be used to renovate the existing library building.
WSU’s Executive Director of Community Services, Marilee O’Malley said the money was needed for the renovations to help make the new WSU library a “more inviting, inclusive and inviting place for people to come to and experience a different educational experience.”
The new library also includes a full kitchen, a full-service library, and new space for students.
“It’s not just for the people that live in the building,” O’Mala said.
“It’s for the students who live here.
The goal is to make it more welcoming and inclusive for students.”
This was just the beginning for WSU.
The WSU community will continue to celebrate and support the WU Libraries work in the years to come.
