It was just a year ago that Cleveland Public Schools announced that it would be shutting down after nearly 25 years.
Since then, the city has been battling through a $1.6 billion deficit.
And with more than 6,000 students in need of library services, the district’s closure was a major blow.
In an effort to save money, the library has been putting out a series of offers that are aimed at helping students who can’t access the library.
But many library patrons say the offers don’t help enough, even though they’ve found a way to access the online materials.
“I think we’re just kind of in a different place,” said James Dolan, a library patron who is also a parent.
“People don’t understand that libraries are not like banks.
They’re not a convenience store.
And the reason they are is because people come here and they need it.”
The offer that’s on the books and in the hands of many is a three-week course, called the “Ascension,” designed to help students learn about the history of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Students will learn how the American Civil War happened, the impact of climate change and how computers and the Internet have impacted our society.
But for some, the course isn’t enough.
In a statement, the Cleveland public library said the offer is aimed at making the public library more accessible.
But some patrons, like Dolan and others, say that’s not enough.
“It’s a great course, but it’s not going to get you the books that you need,” Dolan said.
“I think the fact that they’re asking students to pay to get access to a book is just ridiculous.”
I hope that the city can make this happen, but I’m not sure it will.” “
It’s going to be a long road.
I hope that the city can make this happen, but I’m not sure it will.”
A few other library patrons are also angry with the offer.
One of those is Rebecca Kuznick, who is an elementary school teacher in the Cleveland area.
Kuzneck said she’s been getting offers to help her students learn the material and help them find the materials that they need online.
“That’s what libraries are for,” she said.
“So I thought that this is a good opportunity for the city to make this a success.
It’s a good chance to get these books in the schools and in classrooms.
It was supposed to be that way.
But now, I feel like this is really the beginning of a really long road.”
The city is offering a $15 discount for students who get a discount code at the library’s website.
But it’s unclear how many students have signed up for that discount.
