The Sport Book of Dad has been published to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the first sports event of its kind, the London Olympics.
The book is the brainchild of former British Olympic swimming coach John Larkin, who wanted to show his children that the sport can also be a source of inspiration and joy.
The Sport Bible is based on the idea that a sport is not only a way of life but also an outlet for self-expression, he said.
“A sport has a way in which it can make a person feel a sense of belonging.
It can help you to get a sense that you are a part of a larger community and that you have something that you value.”
He said he wanted his children to have a good understanding of the sport as an activity that could inspire them.
“I think sports can make people feel more like they belong to something bigger and more valuable than themselves,” he said, adding that the book also encourages parents to talk about sports and encourage their children to participate.
“The sport should be a part a very healthy and balanced social life.”
The Sport Book was published in May 2016 and will be available in the UK, US and Australia for £19.99.
The Sportbook will be released in November, the first of its four titles, and has already been translated into 12 languages.
